The 2015 MINI Cooper has been released and the specs are out! Among the [radical for MINI] style changes are some engine and performance changes as well, most notably the appearance of a 3 cylinder engine in the Cooper, the Cooper S still gets a 4 cylinder engine and both variants get twin turbos! Whoa!

I have always loved the MINI and it has long been a classic piece of garage art that fits perfectly next to ones Land Rover of choice, a Jaguar and the latest Bentley machine. It is after all important to keep with cars that are British by heritage and owned by Germans or Indians, mind you some of these are still built in the UK.

I’m thrilled to see the new Cooper and Cooper S hit the streets and live up to their heritage. This is pure speculation but I’m betting that the next rendition of the BMW 1 Series will be a throw-off of a Cooper with similar performance, to that end can we expect a 3 cylinder engine in the new 1 Series?
