Something we love is sitting on a patio and enjoying a cold drink, who doesn’t. At Casual Opulence we enjoy a more refined experience when it comes to patio-ing. That means impeccable service and a menu we can nosh on for hours, all while sitting on a comfortable chair and being continuously replenished with San Pellegrino – it’s important to stay hydrated. We find the best places to enjoy this type of service tends to be hotels but that’s up to you, the small selection of patios below are all locations you’ll be sure to find us out this summer, enjoying a flute of something bubbly or the latest creation by local experts. We also really like the popcorn at MARKET.
MARKET by Jean-Georges at Shangri-La Hotel
While the main restaurant MARKET tends to be a bit more formal with a Business Casual dress code, the patio generally tends to be a more free spirited area. With a partially covered patio one can find a reasonable amount of people watching here on a busy afternoon or weekend evening. Grab a table and sit down with friends and enjoy some of the unique beverages available from Shangri-La Vancouver. We’ve had several photo ops on this patio, but, we won’t share them here – after a few flutes of bubbly we get a bit silly, make sure you do too!

Roof at Black + Blue by Glowbal Collection
Amongst all the other fabulous restaurants on Alberni Street is Black + Blue, the latest from Glowbal Group, featuring a plethora of exquisite seating over two levels and an expansive patio. Above street level you may be worried about the all important people watching, but fret not, this location is the place to be on a Friday or Saturday evening, especially in the warmer months. Don’t arrive too late or you’ll be relegated to a corner that offers less of what you want, the people view. Seating means you’ll share with people you don’t necessarily know, but that’s the fun part – go, meet new people say hello and remember to smile! No one likes people who frown, scowl or glare.

Reflections at Rosewood Hotel Georgia
For some this location is a well hidden secret and for others it’s a gem waiting to be unearthed. Reflections is accessible via the elevator nearest the valet entrance at Rosewood Hotel Georgia. Take a quick ride up and find this exotic courtyard nestled behind the towering hotel residences, with a plethora if high and low seating perfect for an intimate evening or a casual get together with a large or small group of friends. The menu is great for sharing and the atmosphere is truly unique in Vancouver. It’s seclusion allow you to enter a different world completely oblivious to what’s happening outside the walls of the property.

Cardero’s in Coal Harbour
We’re particular fans of resting our weary feet on the patio at Cardero’s when it’s raining – shocking but true. The patio here offers guests a covered place at sea level to sit and relax with a blanket if necessary, which can make a spring or summer rainstorm a wondrous occasion. We’ve had many a visits with a bit of rain that pitter patters on the roof making for a very unique and enjoyable experience.
